Azucarita means tiny pieces of sugar in Spanish, and Azucarita is the name of this small unicorned doll sitting on top of my unicorn sugar skull.

"When I lived in Mexico City in the late 90s, I painted with street children in shelters for years as an art therapist and psychologist. All I know from Mexico from its roots I learned it, first hand, by these children. We enjoyed painting, drawing and decorating the famous sugar skulls together.

My sugar skull is inspired by these children. Their innocent souls were touched by continuous sexual and physical abuses by adults. Azucarita still keeps dreaming in a magical world represented by the unicorn rainbow horns."
