ONE YEAR LESSON PLAN

This yearlong drawing curriculum is designed to cultivate foundational skills and artistic confidence through a progressive exploration of core techniques. Students will begin by mastering essential elements such as line, shape, proportion, and composition, gradually advancing toward more nuanced practices including blending, highlighting, and shading.

Each phase of the program builds upon the last, encouraging both technical precision and expressive experimentation. Through guided exercises, observational studies, and creative projects, learners will deepen their understanding of form, light, and texture, laying the groundwork for a versatile and personal drawing practice.

1. Drawing lines, curves and circles. 

2. Shadowing, highlighting and blending. 

3. Drawing a sphere, cube, pyramid and other 3D forms from life, how to hold a pencil and a blending stump, shadowing techniques. 

4. Drawing vases and other geometrical objects.

5. Drawing casts flowers.

6. Still lifes with drapery. Organics: Flowers, fruits, musical instruments. 

7. Drawing eye, nose, mouth, ear. 

8. Drawing head in different positions. Geometrical planes and muscles. 

9. Drawing a figure and a portrait from life. 

10. Human body proportions and anatomy.

11. Facial feature expression. 

12. Greek and Roman busts.

13. Proportion, anatomy and composition.

14. Skeletal anatomy different points of view.

15. Torsos and figures: human body. 

16. Drawing from real model. 

17. Drawing people, telling a story, a mood, a situation. 

18. Drawing perspective, foreshortening, aerial perspective.
